Historically, women make up the smaller proportion of the working population.

  • 2008: 57% male, 43% female
  • 2023: 54% male, 46% female

Gender and Employment

Cape Town’s population grew by approximately 46%, from 2 563 095 to 4 772 846, between 1996 and 2022.
